Celebrating the work of Jean Coulthard
This year, Syrinx is proud to highlight the music of Jean Coulthard.
Each Sunday Salon will feature at least one work by the Canadian
composer, along with other classics of chamber music.
December 3, 2006, 3pm
Musica Camerata Montreal
Hailed
as Canada’s foremost
chamber music ensemble, this
year Musica Camerata is
celebrating its 37th anniversary.
This concert features the “family”
trio—Berta Rosenohl, piano; Luis
Grinhauz, violin; and Leo
Grinhauz, cello.
Luis Grinhauz: Since winning 1st prize at Aspen Music
Festival, Luis has performed widely as soloist and
chamber musician. Luis is assistant concert master of
the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, a teacher, and
tours with ensembles through much of the world. He
is a founding member of Musica Camerata.
Leo Grinhauz: Leo gave his Town Hall debut in 1992.
He is a faculty member at Rutgers University, and
performs as well as records for CBC. He tours
throughout the Americas, Europe, and Japan.
Berta Rosenohl: Co-founder of Musica Camerata,
Berta is respected for her warmth of tone, dexterity
and wonderful musicality. She has toured extensively
in Europe, United States, Canada, and Israel. She
performs in many musical contexts, including
Trio Grinhauz.

 Roberta Janzen and Peter Longworth
Much
sought after for her highly
expressive musicianship, cellist Roberta
Janzen performs both as soloist and
chamber musician with “strength,
authority and beauty.”
Pianist Peter Longworth is a founding
member of the Duke Trio, and teacher
at the Glenn Gould School. He performs
often as soloist and chamber musician
in Europe, United States and Canada.

 Vilma Vitols and
Gregory Oh
Vilma
Vitols is a mezzo soprano capable of immense power and enormous
subtlety. A true artist, rendering music
with expressiveness both heartbreaking
and fiercely compelling, Vilma Vitols is
one of our country’s great mezzos.
Gregory Oh, piano, is respected for his
versatile and individual interpretations,
his crystal clear tone, and highly
sensitive touch.

 Angela Park, Sharon Wei, Gwendolyn Smith
Angela
Park is a wonderful Canadian pianist with a “beautiful tone and a great deal of
polish”. Angela’s performances are“flawlessly rendered….”
Sharon Wei, viola, is an avid chamber musician, prize
winner of the Washington International Competition,
and teacher. Sharon has performed with some of the
world’s most celebrated musicians.
Gwendolyn Smith, cello, is a young
musician of increasing renown. A three
times prize winner, teacher at
Marionopolis, she has performed with
the National Arts Centre Orchestra and
tours extensively.

Pamina String Quartet
Marie Berard and Jin-Shan Dai, violins; Carolyn
Blackwell, viola; and Roberta Janzen, cello are the
well known and highly respected musicians of the
newly formed Pamina Quartet. We are very pleased to
end this year's series with the Quartet performing a
program that includes:
